Softball Recap: Fayetteville-Manlius Comes Up Short

Fayetteville-Manlius dropped their record down to 9-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Cicero-North Syracuse Northstars, falling 13-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Northstars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 back in April.

As for Cicero-North Syracuse, their record now sits at 9-3. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Cicero-North Syracuse's part, Kiyara Bembry made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Bembry was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sydney Rockwell and Mia Farone did most of the damage at the plate: Rockwell went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Farone went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Rockwell has posted since back in April. Paige Pangaro also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Fayetteville-Manlius and Cicero-North Syracuse should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Hornets will face off against West Genesee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (86 vs. 213). Meanwhile, Cicero-North Syracuse (ranked 23rd) will meet Baldwinsville (ranked 293rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
