Volleyball Recap: The Vanguard School Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

The Vanguard School made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Canon City, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Coursers didn't even let the Tigers on the board on Wednesday, marking the Coursers' second-straight 3-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Coursers: when they faced off against the Tigers back in March, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

The Vanguard School not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Canon City between 17 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-20, 25-17.

Lucas Soeldner paced The Vanguard School's offense, picking up 14 kills. Soeldner got some help from Joseph Wetters and his 26 assists. Anthony Tyshkevich controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Canon City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Lenard, who had 18 digs, and Micah Paschall, who had ten digs and ten assists. Lenard is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games he's played. Noah Donald also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

The Vanguard School is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-7 record this season. As for Canon City, they moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, The Vanguard School will face off against Eaglecrest at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Canon City, they will welcome Colorado Springs Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
