Mater Dei Catholic came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Eastlake Titans by a score of 5-2. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Titans, too.

Arri Romero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lilia Alpuche was excellent, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Mater Dei Catholic's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5. As for Eastlake, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic will welcome Bonita Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Barons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Eastlake, they will be playing at home against Otay Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 2.6, the Mustangs 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
