Baseball Recap: Craig County Drops Season-High Score on Eastern Montgomery

Craig County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They lost 20-6 to the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs. On the bright side, the six- run effort marked the Rockets' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Craig County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Huffman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Huffman has brought in this season.

As for Eastern Montgomery, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Eastern Montgomery's side, Coltin Conner made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Conner has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Eastern Montgomery got a massive performance out of Austin Tate, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Marshall Tate, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Craig County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-4 loss against Highland on the 24th. As for Eastern Montgomery, they have also already played their next contest, a 22-12 win against Bath County on the 24th.
