Brandeis triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Ashton Pena

Recap: Brandeis Broncos vs. Lee Volunteers

Even though the Lee Volunteers scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Brandeis Broncos still came out on top. Brandeis took their matchup against Lee 65-55. The win was all the more spectacular given Brandeis' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Lee is ranked 168th).

Ashton Pena was the offensive standout of the matchup as he dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Short, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.

The win makes it two in a row for Brandeis and bumps their season record up to 12-13. As for Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9.

Brandeis will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Madison at 8:00 p.m. Madison is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Lee, they will challenge Clark at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
