Basketball Recap: Cypress Christian Takes a Loss

Cypress Christian came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Kelly Catholic Bulldogs by a score of 47-45 on Friday. The Warriors lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in December of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 84-17 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Cypress Christian lost, don't look at Kolton Kurek. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 16 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Dawson, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Cypress Christian and nudges their season record down to 12-16. As for Kelly Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Christian will square off against Bay Area Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kelly Catholic, they will host The Woodlands Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
