Softball Recap: West Babylon Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

West Babylon hadn't done well against Smithtown East recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 4-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Autumn Romano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Giudice, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eliza Tymann, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

West Babylon's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Smithtown East, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8.

Coincidentally, West Babylon and Smithtown East will both be playing Smithtown West the next time they take the field. The Bulls will head out to face Smithtown West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
