Volleyball Recap: Taray Irving Key Part of Team Effort in Riptide Win

River Islands won the last time they faced Venture Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Riptide put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 3-0 win.

River Islands not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Venture Academy between 19 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 25-20.

River Islands' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taray Irving, who had 12 digs. That's the most digs Irving has posted over his last eight contests. Landan Namayan was another key player, getting 11 digs.

River Islands' record is now 15-7. As for Venture Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Looking ahead, River Islands will face off against Ben Holt College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their 26th straight victory, something the Riptide surely won't give up without a fight. As for Venture Academy, they will take on Millennium at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
