Baseball Game Preview: Doniphan West Mustangs vs. Centralia Panthers

The Doniphan West Mustangs will take on the Centralia Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Centralia will be up against a hot Doniphan West team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Doniphan West came out on top against Onaga by a score of 13-8 on Monday.

Kolter Peterson made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, Doniphan West let Hayden Paolino and Cooper Eberly run wild. Paolino went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Eberly scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Tabin Clary was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Centralia won against Valley Heights on Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Centralia blew past Valley Heights 13-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Centralia's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Doniphan West, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
