Football Recap: Sweetwater Has No Trouble Against Austin-East

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Meigs County, Sweetwater was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Austin-East Roadrunners 47-33. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 42-13 win the Roadrunners walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2016.

When it comes to explaining why Austin-East lost, don't look at Nymire Jackson. Despite the final result, he threw for 472 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 59 yards. Dikyeis Towns did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 70 receiving yards.

The victory got Sweetwater back to even at 3-3. As for Austin-East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Sweetwater will head out to square off against Campbell County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Austin-East, they will host Gatlinburg-Pittman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Roadrunners will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
