Baseball Game Preview: Vineland Fighting Clan vs. St. Augustine Prep Hermits

The Vineland Fighting Clan will square off against the St. Augustine Prep Hermits at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vineland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Vineland's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past West Deptford 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Clan, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Valin Townsand made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Don Menzoni was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Carlos Santiago was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine Prep entered their tilt with Holy Ghost Prep on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Firebirds 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hermits have posted since April 4th.

Vineland's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for St. Augustine Prep, their win bumped their record up to 11-3-1.

Vineland came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Augustine Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Fighting Clan have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hermits turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
