Baseball Game Preview: Springville Red Devils vs. Maple Mountain Eagles

Springville hasn't had much luck against Maple Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will face off against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Springville has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Springville came up short against Wasatch on Tuesday, falling 11-5. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly six runs.

Springville saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bridger Frischknecht, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. The Red Devils are 2-1 when Frischknecht posts two or more runs, but 3-12 otherwise. Ashton VanWagoner was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Maple Mountain entered their contest against Spanish Fork on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles lost 17-4 to the Dons. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this matchup were averaging four runs allowed.

Maple Mountain's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 16-3. As for Springville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Springville might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Maple Mountain in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
