Volleyball Recap: Anselmo-Merna Comes Up Short

Anselmo-Merna lost against Burwell two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Coyotes fell 2-0 to the Longhorns.

While Anselmo-Merna ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-18.

Rhianen Myers paced Anselmo-Merna's offense, picking up seven kills. Myers got some help from Lily Thornton and her ten assists. Myers also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Jenna Bartak, each putting up two.

Burwell can attribute much of their success to Karsyn Bower, who had 12 digs.

Anselmo-Merna's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Burwell, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Anselmo-Merna has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Sandhills/Thedford on the 21st. As for Burwell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Riverside on the 27th.
