Basketball Recap: Wichita County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Golden Plains

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wichita County). They were the clear victor by a 69-45 margin over the Golden Plains Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Wichita County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Figueroa led the charge by going 6 of 14 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Figueroa a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Francisco Figueroa, who went 9 of 16 en route to 22 points.

Despite the loss, Golden Plains still got an impressive performance from Josh Rath, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dylan Wark, who posted 14 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Wichita County and bumps their season record up to 4-3. As for Golden Plains, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Wichita County will venture away from home to face off against Southwestern Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Golden Plains, they will welcome Western Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
