Softball Game Preview: Boca Raton Bobcats vs. Cardinal Newman Crusaders

The Boca Raton Bobcats will head out to square off against the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boca Raton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, everything went Boca Raton's way against Suncoast as Boca Raton made off with a 14-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.

Julie Lowe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Audrey Brandao, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kate Ivanik, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Boca Raton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seminole Ridge.

Cardinal Newman saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Luna, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Cardinal Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Boca Raton, their record now sits at 5-3.

Boca Raton might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from Cardinal Newman when the teams last played back in February. Can Boca Raton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
