Softball Recap: Lake Travis Finds Playoff Glory Versus Round Rock

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lake Travis walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Round Rock Dragons a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Julianna Rodriguez, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Round Rock off the board. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Smith was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Madison Pinzon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Lake Travis lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Lake Travis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Round Rock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-11.

As of now, neither Lake Travis nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
