Baseball Recap: Weehawken Takes a Loss

Weehawken extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lyndhurst Golden Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 back in April.

As for Lyndhurst, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 22nd.

For Lyndhurst's part, Ryan Lemanowicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Lemanowicz a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnny Chaname, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Shawn Bellenger was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Weehawken does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lyndhurst, they will face off against Leonia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
