Football Recap: West Rusk Comes Up Short at Home Against Malakoff + How To Watch

West Rusk unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 33-14 fall against the Malakoff Tigers on Friday. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Although West Rusk took the loss, they still got scores from Hunter McCandless and Gunner Harp.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Harp, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

West Rusk didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 22-12 win against Diboll on the 5th. As for Malakoff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 38-35 loss against Lorena on the 5th.
