Baseball Game Preview: Lena-Winslow Panthers vs. Lutheran Crusaders

The Lena-Winslow Panthers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Lutheran Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lena-Winslow is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Stillman Valley. Lena-Winslow came out on top against Stillman Valley by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday.

Luke Madigan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Aiden Wild was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Khayne Albright was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Lutheran was able to grind out a solid victory over Durand/Pecatonica on Tuesday, taking the game 7-2.

The team relied heavily on Owen Anderson, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mason Keller, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

Everything went Lena-Winslow's way against Lutheran when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Lena-Winslow made off with a 12-2 win. Does Lena-Winslow have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lutheran turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
