Basketball Recap: Lake City Community Comes Up Short

Lake City Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 63-15 loss at the hands of the Centennial Rams. The 14ers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-4.

Morgan Hardy was Lake City Community's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Ingrid Piltingsrud held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reina Aguilera, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 18 boards. That's the most rebounds Aguilera has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anai Medina, who earned 24 points along with five boards and five steals.

Lake City Community's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Lake City Community and Centennial will both be playing Creede the next time they take the court. Centennial will host Creede at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lake City Community will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
