Basketball Recap: New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jacee Alexander and Callie Wagner

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly and Illini West squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Illini West Chargers by a score of 43-40. The Vipers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Despite the loss, New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly had strong showings from Callie Wagner, who went 6-for-14 on her way to 16 points and five steals, and Jacee Alexander, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and six steals. That's the most points Wagner has posted since back in December of 2024.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Illini West, their victory bumped their record up to 17-14.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Illini West, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-34 loss against Central/Southeastern on the 18th.
