Baseball Recap: Cosumnes Oaks Comes Up Short

Cosumnes Oaks extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They came up short against the Franklin Wildcats, falling 14-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Monday.

As for Franklin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-7. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Franklin's part, Dylan Wood looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Wood has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nolan Manaois and Jason Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Manaois went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Harris went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Manaois a new career-high. Dylan Minnatee was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Franklin beat Cosumnes Oaks by a score of 16-0 on Thursday.
