Softball Recap: Edon Wins Going Away Against North Central

Edon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt North Central on Tuesday. The Bombers blew past the Eagles 19-3. With that victory, the Bombers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Makayla Anspaugh made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Anspaugh was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Kaylynn Bartlett was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Edon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Edon's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for North Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edon will head out to square off against Pettisville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Gorham Fayette at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Central is facing Gorham Fayette at the right time seeing as Gorham Fayette is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
