Volleyball Game Preview: Cobre Indians vs. Lordsburg Mavericks

The Cobre Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Lordsburg Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cobre is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Silver, who was ranked 12th at the time (Cobre was ranked 19th). The Indians fell 3-1 to the Fighting Colts on Thursday.

Cobre was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Silver work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 26-24, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Cobre got top-tier performance from Bella Sias, who had 18 digs and two aces. Sias has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Lordsburg had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-11, 25-16.

Cobre's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Lordsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Cobre took their win against Lordsburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
