Baseball Recap: Evanston Takes a Loss

Evanston extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 11-16 in the process. They came up short against the Maine South Hawks, falling 11-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-0 loss on Tuesday.

As for Maine South, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

For Maine South's part, Luka Stojakovic was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Evan Adamczewski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Evanston will welcome Carmel at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Corsairs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.97 runs per game on average), something the Wildkits will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Maine South, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lemont at 7:45 p.m. on the 23rd.
