Baseball Recap: Dawson Comes Up Short

Dawson and Clear Lake squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Dawson had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-1. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

Bennett Schnee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Maddox Botas was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Dawson's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Clear Lake, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 24-10-3.

While Dawson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
