Softball Game Preview: Northwood Gators vs. LaSalle Tigers

Northwood is 0-10 against LaSalle since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Northwood Gators will host the LaSalle Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Northwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Simpson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Northwood blew past Simpson 13-7 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Gators needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Kelsey Bennett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, Micheala Bolden was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while going 4-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Ambrose, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, LaSalle entered their tilt with Neville on Saturday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Neville a 10-0 shutout.

LaSalle's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Northwood, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
