Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Utica's Winning Streak

Utica fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Marysville on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-6 to the Vikings. The Chieftains' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Rachel Durecki made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Condon, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one double.

Utica's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Marysville, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Coincidentally, Utica and Marysville will both be playing Lakeview the next time they take the field. The Chieftains will host the Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Vikings will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
