Preview: West Phoenix Eagles vs. Imagine Prep Storm
West Phoenix is 0-6 against Imagine Prep since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The West Phoenix Eagles' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Imagine Prep Storm at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th. West Phoenix will be strutting in after a win while Imagine Prep will be coming in after a loss.
Back in December of 2023, West Phoenix was able to grind out a solid victory over Glenview College Prep, taking the game 38-26. The win was just what West Phoenix needed coming off of a 70-7 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Imagine Prep was beaten by Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way 68-29 on Friday. Imagine Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-18.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Bella Ernsberger, who scored six points along with 11 blocks and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Berkeley Lowden was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds.
West Phoenix's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. As for Imagine Prep, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.
West Phoenix took a serious blow against Imagine Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 46-13. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Phoenix was down 28-4.
