Softball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Maricopa Rams

For the second straight game, Mountain View will face off against Maricopa. The Mountain Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Tuesday, Mountain View made easy work of Maricopa and carried off a 14-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Mountain Lions, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Arianna Figueroa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Danika Stoddard was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Lynch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in five consecutive contests.

This is the second loss in a row for Maricopa and nudges their season record down to 8-8-1. As for Mountain View, their record is now 15-4.
