It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Floyd County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Alleghany Cougars 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buffaloes have posted against the Cougars since April 23, 2019.

Johnny Whitlow was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Harris, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Floyd County and bumps their season record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Alleghany, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd County will welcome James River at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alleghany, they will host Carroll County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
