Basketball Game Preview: Northampton County Jaguars vs. Warren County Eagles

Northampton County is on a three-game streak of home losses, Warren County a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Northampton County Jaguars will host the Warren County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Northampton County challenged Washington County on Friday. Northampton County came up short against Washington County, falling 59-39.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaiyah Cherry, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Toccara Joyner, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Warren County played a tough game last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 73-33 loss at the hands of Vance County. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Warren County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Iyauna Harley went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 45.5% of Warren County's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Warren County now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Northampton County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Northampton County against Warren County in their previous matchup back in February, as the squad secured a 61-18 win. In that game, Northampton County amassed a halftime lead of 31-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
