Baseball Recap: Havana's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

Havana and West Prairie pushed the score to 10-9 the last time they played West Prairie, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Ducks had just enough and edged out the Cyclones 2-1. For the Ducks, this counts as revenge for the 10-9 win the Cyclones walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Carter Brooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one stolen base.

Brooks wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Havana's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-10. As for West Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Havana wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Delavan on the 22nd. As for West Prairie, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 loss against Cuba/Spoon River Valley on the 23rd.
