The Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the West Catholic Falcons at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pewamo-Westphalia had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt St. Patrick on Monday. The Pirates blew past the Shamrocks 13-7. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Shamrocks: they've now won four in a row.

Makayla McRae spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Elyse Thelen was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She also got a hit, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Summer Wirth, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
West Catholic came out on top against Comstock Park on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Panthers. The game marked the Falcons' most dominant victory of the season.
Alaina Markules was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Markules was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cate Sanders was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Empie, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
West Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pewamo-Westphalia, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pewamo-Westphalia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
