Recap: Woodlawn vs. Chicago Vocational Cavaliers
After a string of three wins, Woodlawn's's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chicago Vocational. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Woodlawn came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Chicago Vocational is ranked 635th).
Chicago Vocational got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendaro Cassidy out in front who scored 18 points. The contest was Cassidy's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ron Thigpen, who scored 16 points.
Woodlawn's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Chicago Vocational, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Woodlawn will head out on the road to face off against Blue Island Eisenhower at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chicago Vocational, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Corliss at 4:30 p.m. Corliss is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
