Basketball Recap: Sierra Skates Past Cheyenne Mountain with Ease

Sierra posted their biggest win since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-20 victory over the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks. This was payback for the Stallions, who suffered a 44-33 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sierra got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Deja Burns out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 blocks. Burns is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shetara Roebuck, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals.

Sierra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

The victory got Sierra back to even at 4-4. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they moved to 3-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Sierra didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-36 win against Harrison on the 11th. Cheyenne Mountain has also already played their next matchup, a 42-19 victory against Mitchell on the 9th.
