Baseball Recap: Manteno Drops Highest Score of Season Against Watseka

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Manteno). They put the hurt on the Watseka Warriors with a sharp 22-10 victory on Thursday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Maddoz Toepper was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Buehler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Manteno always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Manteno has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Watseka, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-14 record.

Looking ahead, Manteno will be playing at home against Pontiac at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Watseka, they will head out to square off against Hoopeston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
