Godby takes loss despite strong efforts from Jaden Staten and Mekhi Butler

Recap: Godby Cougars vs. Rickards Raiders

The Godby Cougars pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-58 to Rickards. Godby has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Godby had strong showings from Mekhi Butler, who scored 15 points, and Jaden Staten, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Damien Shepherd, who scored eight points.

Godby has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Rickards, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

Godby will head out on the road to challenge Rutherford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rutherford will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Rickards won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Milton at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Milton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61 points per game.
