Basketball Recap: Da'nariyah Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Military Magnet Academy over Goose Creek

Military Magnet Academy was the 62-40 winner over Goose Creek when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Gators on Wednesday, falling 58-37. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Military Magnet Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Da'Nariyah Williams, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mariah Brown, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 14 points and six rebounds.

Madeline Dates produced another solid performance dropping a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards for Goose Creek. Those 11 rebounds gave Dates a new career-high. Celeste Griffin was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Military Magnet Academy fell to 4-1. As for Goose Creek, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Military Magnet Academy will challenge Lucy Beckham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Goose Creek, they will face off against Ridge View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
