Preview: Berean Academy Eagles vs. Skyline Prep Bengals

Berean Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Skyline Prep is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Berean Academy Eagles will take on the Skyline Prep Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Berean Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six matchups.

Berean Academy put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 48-8 win over Heritage Academy Gateway. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

Berean Academy had a senior duo take command as Andre Shields rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only five carries and Jason Powell gained 201 total yards and two touchdowns. Logan Sealey was another key contributor, gaining 76 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Skyline Prep was able to grind out a solid win over AZ Compass Prep/Sequoia two weeks ago, taking the game 16-6.

Dashon Goe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 174 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes.

Skyline Prep's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Abel Cervantes and his three sacks.

Their wins bumped Berean Academy to 7-0 and Skyline Prep to 5-0.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Berean Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 260.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Skyline Prep struggles in that department as they've been even better at 262.6 per game. It's looking like Thursday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Berean Academy took a serious blow against Skyline Prep when the teams last played back in September of 2022, falling 60-0. Thankfully for Berean Academy, Adam Cervantes (who rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 51 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
