Baseball Game Preview: Boone Braves vs. University Cougars

For the second straight game, Boone will face off against University. The Braves will challenge the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Thursday, Boone narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past University 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.

Boone got a great performance from Henry Vega as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Vega has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, CJ Nassar was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Boone is 3-1 when Nassar posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-9 otherwise. Micah Arroyo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Boone hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

University is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13. As for Boone, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
