Preview: Chicago Marshall Commandos vs. Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs
The Chicago Marshall Commandos will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs at 11:45 a.m. on December 26th. Hopefully Chicago Marshall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Chicago Marshall was able to grind out a solid win over Dyett, taking the game 54-47. Given Chicago Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Dyett is ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chicago Marshall found their leader in underclassman Janiyah Green, who scored 22 points. The game was Green's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chamarre Scott, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and five blocks.
Meanwhile, Berwyn/Cicero Morton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 47-42 to Shepard.
Chicago Marshall pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
