Basketball Recap: Kaylee Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ahoskie Christian over Terra Ceia Christian

Ahoskie Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 29-25 heartbreaker at the hands of the Terra Ceia Christian Knights. The game marked Ahoskie Christian's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Ahoskie Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaylee Jones, who posted five points in addition to ten boards and three blocks. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Dunlow, who put up five points in addition to ten boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Ahoskie Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Ahoskie Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Terra Ceia Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Ahoskie Christian will face off against Pamlico Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Terra Ceia Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Heritage Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lakin Van Essendelft and Cheyenne Anderson.
