Baseball Recap: Auburndale Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Frostproof, Auburndale was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Lake Gibson Braves with a sharp 12-2 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bloodhounds' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The team relied heavily on Carter Brattlie, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Norris, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Auburndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Gibson only posted an OBP of .385.

Auburndale's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Lake Gibson, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

When Auburndale and Lake Gibson next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Bloodhounds will square off against IMG Academy Blue and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lake Gibson will try to stop Bartow's three-game winning streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
