Baseball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Hickory Grove Christian dropped their record down to 9-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 8-5 to the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in March.

Ben Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nathan Dowdy, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

On Metrolina Christian Academy's side, they let Jacob Seamon and Landon Nichols run wild. Seamon got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Nichols went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Nichols a new career-high. Jackson Pierce was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Hickory Grove Christian will venture away from home to square off against Sun Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte S at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
