Baseball Recap: Cle Elum-Roslyn Comes Up Short

Cle Elum-Roslyn fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Liberty Bell on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mountain Lions by a score of 6-5. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Glen Franklin put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Cle Elum-Roslyn is 2-1 when Franklin posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tristan Bogart made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those triples marked the first that he has hit this season.

Cle Elum-Roslyn's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Liberty Bell, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Cle Elum-Roslyn will venture away from home to challenge Tri-Cities Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Liberty Bell, they will head out to take on Kittitas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
