Baseball Recap: Dwight Morrow's Losing Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Dwight Morrow had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past the Ridgefield Memorial Royals 10-9. Considering the Maroon Raiders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jaden Done was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. He has become a key player for Dwight Morrow: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-11 otherwise. Done was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Adonis Rosario and Angel Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Rosario got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Garcia got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Rosario a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eric Perez, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Dwight Morrow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dwight Morrow's record is now 3-12. As for Ridgefield Memorial, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dwight Morrow will take on Paramus at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.61 runs per game on average), something the Maroon Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ridgefield Memorial, they will square off against Becton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
