Basketball Recap: Coconut Creek Victorious

Monarch came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Coconut Creek, but Abigail Theophile wouldn't allow it. The Coconut Creek Cougars blew past the Monarch Knights 62-17 on Thursday thanks in part to Theophile, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. Theophile is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Frantasia Jacques, who posted six points along with seven boards and seven steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

The win got Coconut Creek back to even at 7-7. As for Monarch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Coconut Creek Cougars face off against the Coral Springs Charter Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Coral Springs Charter will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Coconut Creek surely won't give up without a fight. As for Monarch, they are taking a road trip to square off against Stoneman Douglas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
