Baseball Recap: Orangewood Christian Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Orangewood Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Trinity Prep Saints 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Saints back in February, they had to take a 9-5 loss.

Rhys Oldham tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Austin Wendorf was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Max Sakala was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Orangewood Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Trinity Prep, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5.

Orangewood Christian has already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against East River on the 3rd. As for Trinity Prep, they will challenge Lake Highland Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
