The Woodridge Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Woodridge is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 22nd on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past East Canton 5-3. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rory Johnston made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Woodridge: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 8-12 otherwise. Johnston was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Woodridge got a great performance from Jack Linton as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
Back at the plate, Blake Pumper was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Alliance typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a run and slipped past the Aviators 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Royals, who have now won five matchups in a row.
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor McGough, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that McGough has hit this season. Another was Daniel Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Woodridge, their record now sits at 10-13.
Woodridge came up short against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
